Christmas Eve: our Christmas Eve service continues to be a favorite with church members and their families.  This year’s highlights included songs by the choir, lessons from the catechism, a program by the Sunday School children, and the traditional candle lighting with the singing of Silent Night.

DSO Concert: on December 13, our church hosted a chamber music recital sponsored by the DSO.  The quintet performed Mozart and Brahms and was well attended by the community.  We’re grateful to the DSO for allowing us to host this lovely evening.

Soup & Pie Supper: Sunday evening, December 4, our church family enjoyed our annual carol sing which included a soup & pie supper.  While the food and fellowship were outstanding, the singing and reminders of the coming of our Savior helped prepare us to celebrate this most blessed event.  Special thanks go to our Church Life Committee and the group that accompanied singing.

Church Picnic: on June 26 the congregation headed to Patterson Park after the morning worship for our annual church picnic.  The weather cooperated beautifully providing for comfortable fellowship and perfect splash pad conditions.  Thanks to Ernie M. & Karen M. we have many great pictures to share.  Simply click the following link to view them all.

Easter Breakfast: an enjoyable part of our church’s Easter tradition is the breakfast sponsored by Church Life prior to worship on Easter morning.  The food and fellowship were great and it was wonderful way to come together as God’s family prior to celebrating the resurrection of our Lord.

Habitat Build: one clear, bright Saturday morning in February, 6 1st. church members headed over to Habitat for Humanity’s eastside facility to disassemble unused walls that had been donated.   Materials from the walls will be used in the construction of new homes in the coming season.  We were grateful to be able to serve others in this way and for Ernie M’s part in keeping us connected with Habitat.

Mexican Dinner: Thursday evening, March 3, church members had opportunity skip cooking and enjoy a wonderful Mexican dinner together. Beside delicious food, the dinner provided an opportunity to contribute to the Parish House renovation which is approaching completion, as well as an opportunity to enjoy time together during the week.

Chili Cook-off: in keeping with tradition, the 18th. annual chili cook-off took place on January 30. This year’s contestants included Kris & Julie V V, Gayle C., Doris M., John R., Mary K., and Ellen Z. While the award for the best chili went to first time contestant Mary K., the real winner was God’s Kids Early Learning Center, the recipient of the funds raised through the cook-off.

Recent Milestones: In January, two milestone events took place within our church family.  Saturday, January 15, the ladies helped Kerrie and Josh N. prepare for the arrival of Zachary Peter (as it turns out, he arrived  January 29) and on January 22, friends and family of Johanna M. helped her celebrate her 80th. birthday.  What a blessing to enjoy reminders of God’s faithfulness to these members of our church family.
